The kit you need when the system is silent

About
My name is Marty Ray Gold. I built Trauma Empowered because I needed this kit and it did not exist.
I was born to a teenage mother. I grew up inside addiction, violence, abuse, hunger, and adults who looked away. By eleven I was in juvenile detention. I became a ward of the state — group home, work-camp placement, proctor homes, foster rotations. I watched kids with lawyers go home and kids with no one stay. I worked inside private placement and adjudicated youth services and watched occupancy and referral networks decide a child’s next bed.
I also met the other half of the truth: a leader who treats a you like you matter can change the trajectory. I learned to lead by serving others in the same weather. I served in the Navy. I built my life around fatherhood. Then suddenly contact with my children stopped overnight, and the system offered endless procedures instead of a map.
In the worst of the custody weather I found Lilly Landikusic, a leading national voice and advocate. She has walked child separation herself. She gave me, and a lot of other parents, the support and guidance the system never did.
I cannot undo what happened to me. I can refuse to leave the next person staring at a blank page.
Be the person you needed when you were in that situation. Fail-Learn-Grow-Share-Repeat.

You are not cleaned of trauma. You are empowered through it.
Our Mission
We give you the map nobody handed us.
If you are a parent frozen and cut off from your child, you should not have to invent a plan from a blank page. If you are a youth in foster care, detention, a boarding school, wilderness, or any other locked placement, you deserve a plain-language map and one next step you can actually take.
These are the packets, the private-AI tools, and the named connections I needed when I was in your position.

Our Promise
-
You will not be talked down to here. Freeze is a body event, not proof that you do not care.
-
We do not store your case file. There is nothing to upload. Use your own AI.
-
We will not mash four different family injuries into one slogan and call it a diagnosis.
-
We will not tell you to “just co-parent” while fear is still running the house.
-
We will not call a daily-rate bed a childhood.
-
We will name the people who can actually help, and we will hand you a packet you can run on a bad day.
You are not cleaned of trauma. You are empowered through it.
Family Preservation
Hardship, conflict, freeze, and poverty are reasons to bring help into a family. They are not automatic reasons to take a child away or lock a youth in a program.
-
Keep families together when safety can be held in place.
-
Limit contact when safety cannot be held in place.
-
Never confuse a daily-rate bed with a childhood.
Only extreme harm — imminent violence, sexual abuse, starvation, or institutional-grade danger — justifies taking someone out of family and support.
Even then the job is not a warehouse. Stop the harm. Keep every safe relationship that can be kept. Build the path home or into kinship as soon as safety allows.
